Join the award-winning Native American Dance Team of the Nawakwa Lodge. The dance team is a branch of the Order of the Arrow that is totally devoted to reliving the ways of the Native Americas through Dancing, Singing, Dress, Crafting, and Sleeping under the stars or in a lodge (TIPI).
Our regalia are crafted according to the tribe and time period we represent. It is out TOP PRIORITY that our regalia are not offensive to the Native Americas. We create regalia for the Dances Styles of:
OLD STYLE TRADITIONAL GRASS FANCY STRAIGHT
The Dance Team performs at all lodge ceremonies and we complete in regional and national Order of the Arrow competitions. We represent the Lodge with Service to Troops, Cub Packs, Performances, and demonstrations at District Events. We maintain a tradition of excellence in dance, regalia, and the Sprit of the Brotherhood.
We are active throughout each Service Weekend from Friday night through Sunday morning. TIPIS are set-up on Friday as the team gathers for an evening of crafting, dance, practice, and attending the Pre-Ordeal Ceremony. Saturday we practice dance, craft, teach, and demonstrate to new members or anyone else interested in the team. We perform at all ceremonies on Saturday and support the Ceremony team in any way we can.
